How It Happened
- A cross into the box in JMU's attacking third was bobbled before ricocheting off the arm of Campbell George for a handball that would result in a penalty kick. Junior Amanda Attanasi stepped up for her first career penalty kick and converted the goal for a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute.
- The Dukes took the 1-0 lead into the half, leading in shots (5-3) and corner kicks (5-1).
- Senior London Lewis netted her first goal of the season in the 62nd minute to give JMU a 2-0 lead. Attanasi sent a pass across the six-yard box that was deflected off two Herd defenders. Lewis gathered the deflection and sent a pass into the corner of the goal.
- Less than two minutes later, the Dukes added a third goal on an own goal. A clear attempt by the Herd was shanked and it went right back into the net.
- In the 71st minute, redshirt senior Suwaibatu Mohammed dribbled into the box and passed back up to the top of the 18-yard box where redshirt sophomore Ariana Reyes ran in and fired the ball into the back of the net for a 4-0 lead.
- JMU nearly added a fifth goal in the 83rd minute, but senior Caley Zack's shot from about 30 yards out caromed off the cross bar.
