SANTA CLARA, Calif. – James Madison women's soccer equalized going into the halftime break, but a 47
th minute goal from Santa Clara allowed the Broncos to take the match, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at Stevens Stadium.
The Dukes dropped to 2-2-2 while the No. 8 Broncos improved to a perfect 6-0-0.

How It Happened
- Santa Clara put the first goal in the back of the net in the third minute on a free kick after a JMU foul set it up right outside of the 18-foot box.
- A foul in the box in the 35th minute gave JMU a penalty kick opportunity, but junior Sophia Verrecchia's shot was saved by the Santa Clara goalkeeper.
- The Dukes knotted the match at one just before halftime behind Mohammed's goal after she beat the keeper and snuck her shot in around the defender.
- The Broncos retook the lead in the 47th minute off a goal from Lucy Mitchell.
- JMU had a chance to equalize for a second time, but senior Sammie Sipes shot was saved in the 75th minute.

"That was probably our best performance overall. We caused Santa Clara some problems. Unfortunately, we made three mistakes that cost us. But we are taking some big positives out of this match into the Thursday match at Georgetown."
