HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison lacrosse has unveiled its 16-game schedule for the 2025 season, Head CoachÂ
Shelley Klaes announced on Thursday.
JMU is set to play eight games at home and six on the road, along with two neutral-site contests.
Â
The schedule features six matchups against teams that reached the 2024 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship, including a quarterfinalist. Additionally, seven 2025 opponents finished in the top 25 of the ILWomen/IWLCA Poll at the end of the 2024 season.
Â
"We are excited to compete in 2025 in the American Athletic Conference as we welcome new opponents into our league." Klaes said. "We are also proud of creating one of the most competitive schedules in our sport so that we can work to accomplish our program goals of going after our first ever AAC conference championship and continuing to compete for a National championship in the sport of lacrosse here at JMU."
The Dukes will open the season on the road with ACC foes North Carolina (Feb. 7) and Virginia Tech (Feb. 12), as consistent with the schedule from prior seasons. JMU will then travel to the USA Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Md. for a neutral-site matchup against UConn (Feb. 15). February play will finish with the home opener against Richmond (Feb. 26).
Â
March will be spent mainly at home, as four of six matchups will be played at Sentara Park. JMU opens the month by traveling to Cary, N.C. for a neutral-site contest with Florida (March 1), then back to Harrisonburg for a massive showdown with Big Ten foe Maryland (March 8).
Â
American Athletic Conference play will begin the following week when the Dukes travel to Nashville to face off against Vanderbilt (March 15). From there, JMU begins a four-game homestand, hosting in-state rival Virginia (March 19), AAC foe Old Dominion (March 22), Johns Hopkins (March 26), and AAC foe Charlotte (March 29).
Â
The April slate will kick off with a contest at Georgetown (April 9). Three of the final four games of the regular season are AAC matchups, with two at home and two on the road. The Dukes will take on Temple in Philadelphia (April 12), Liberty (April 16) and South Florida (April 19) at home, before making their way to Greenville, N.C., to close out the regular season at East Carolina (April 26).
The 2025 American Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship will be held May 1 and 3 at Old Dominion in Norfolk.
