DUKES READY FOR CHALLENGE AT WAKE FOREST
- James Madison men's basketball travels to Winston-Salem, N.C., on Tuesday, Dec. 17 to take on Wake Forest in just the second all-time meeting between the two schools.Â
- The Dukes are 2-0 in the month of December, most recently winning 78-61 over Utah Valley on Saturday to close a three-game homestand with consecutive wins for the first time this season.
- The Demon Deacons are led by Head Coach Steve Forbes - who is in his fifth year at the helm - and enter this contest with an 8-3 record.
- The game will stream on ACC Network. Dave Riggert will call the game on WSVA 92.1 FM | 550 AM and the Varsity Network App, with coverage beginning at 6:30.
- Tuesday's matchup will mark just the second meeting between the two schools. The teams met for the first time on Nov. 11th, 2006 in Winston-Salem, a 91-82 Wake Forest victory.
JMU VS. THE ACC
- The last time the Dukes took on an ACC foe was last March in the second round of the NCAA tournament in Brooklyn, N.Y., when JMU fell to No. 4 seed Duke, 93-55.
- JMU's last victory over an ACC team on the road came against Virginia Tech in 1986, 70-67, in Blacksburg.
- Â The Dukes are 7-34 all-time against current ACC teams, with wins against Virginia Tech (4), Virginia (1), Cal (1), and Pitt (1).
LAST TIME OUT
- JMU shot 13-of-26 (.500) from behind the arc and held Utah Valley to a season-low 33.3 percent from the floor to take a commanding 78-61 win over the Wolverines on Saturday afternoon at the Atlantic Union Bank Center.
- JMU led for 36 minutes and has now led for 76 of 80 minutes in the past two games after leading wire-to-wire in a 71-61 win over ETSU on Tuesday, Dec. 3.
- The Dukes finished with 36 bench points, led by Bryce Lindsay's 18. Luke Anderson also tied a season-high seven points off the bench.Â
- Xavier Brown finished with seven assists, which tied his career high. He also had seven assists against Coastal Carolina on Feb. 1, 2024.
- JMU is now 6-0 when scoring 70 points or more this season and 6-2 when leading at half.
- Bryce Lindsay made at least four three-pointers (4-9) for the fifth time this season. In 10 games, he is shooting 47.7 percent from behind the arc.
THE WAKE FOREST SCOUT
- Wake Forest enters Tuesday's game with a 8-3 record, fresh off a ten-day break from games like the Dukes. They will then play back-to-back road contests at Clemson and Syracuse to finish the calendar year.
- The Demon Deacons won their last outing at home against Boston College, 72-66, to stay a perfect 6-0 at home this season. Under Steve Forbes, Wake Forest is 59-13 (.819) in home games at LJVM Coliseum (2020-present).
- In 2023-24, Wake Forest finished 21-14, securing a top-five seed in the ACC tournament for the second time in three seasons, but were bounced by Pitt, 81-69, in the quarterfinals. They then earned a bid to the National Invitational Tournament (NIT), defeating beating App State 87-76 before falling to Georgia 72-66 to conclude the season.
- Hunter Sallis garnered 2024 First Team All-ACC, as Wake Forest took a spot on the First Team for the third straight season. He was later named Associated Press ACC Newcomer of the Year.
- Wake Forest was picked to finish third in the 2024-25 ACC Preseason Coaches Poll. Sallis received three votes to be the Preseason Player of the Year, only behind Duke's Cooper Flagg and UNC's RJ Davis. He was also tabbed Preseason First Team All-ACC.
- This season, Wake Forest is averaging 67.4 points per game while giving up 64.9 points per game. The Deacs are fourth in the ACC in scoring defense and fifth in blocked shots (4.4/game) and steals (8.1/game).
- Hunter Sallis leads Wake Forest in scoring with 16.3 ppg while App State transfer Tre'von Spillers leads in rebounds per game (9.5) while shooting 54.9 percent from the floor. In two games against JMU in 2023-24, Spillers averaged 10 points and 8.5 rebounds as the Mountaineers handed the Dukes two of their three conference losses.
- Wake Forest has made the NCAA Tournament 23 times, making it as far the Elite Eight eight times, most recently in 1996.

- In its 78-61 win over Utah Valley, JMU recorded its fourth 10-0 run of the season, taking a 10-3 deficit to a 13-10 advantage early in the first half.
- The Dukes are 3-0 in games where they tallied a run of 10-0 or more and have yet to allow an opponent to record 10 unanswered points this season.

NCAA NET RANKINGS
- The 2024-25 men's basketball season marks the seventh season of the NCAA Evaluation Tool (NET) rankings, which replaced the RPI prior to the 2018-19 season as the primary sorting tool for evaluating teams.
- Since the NET rankings serve as the primary sorting tool for Division I men's basketball, they play an important role in establishing a team's resume.
- As of December 11, James Madison ranks 127th in the NET Rankings, third in the Sun Belt behind Texas State (106) and Arkansas State (113).
- The Dukes have played two top 100 teams this season in UC San Diego (70) and George Mason (85). Wake Forest, JMU's next opponent, sits at 114 as of Dec. 11.
BRYCE LINDSANITY
- After playing in eight games last year at Texas A&M, redshirt freshman guard Bryce Lindsay is second on JMU in scoring (14.2) while playing an an average of 26.0 minutes off the bench for the Dukes.
- As of Dec. 12, he is the only player in Division I men's basketball who is averaging 14 points or more off the bench while shooting 45 percent or greater from behind the arc. Among players coming off the bench, he is fifth in total points (142) and second in points per game (14.2).
- Â Lindsay leads the Dukes and the Sun Belt in made threes (31) and is 34th nationally in the same category. His three-point percentage of 47.7 ranks 24th in the country.
- At the Boardwalk Battle in Daytona Beach, Fla., on Nov. 21-23, Lindsay finished with 56 points in three games (18.7/game) while shooting 63 percent (19-30) from the floor and 61.9 percent from deep (13-21).
- Â He poured in a career-high 28 points in the tournament opener against UIC - 23 of which came in the first half. He finished the first half a perfect 9-for-9 from the floor with three 3-pointers before finishing with 28.
- Â He became the first freshman and 25th NCAA Division I player since 2004-05 to record 25 points with 10 made field goals at 90 percent or better, five 3-pointers, and five rebounds in a single game to help James Madison score a season-high 99 points.
- Lindsay also became the first JMU player since Vado Morse in January 2022 to hit five 3-pointers in consecutive games, as the guard finished 5-of-6 against UIC and 5-of-9 against UC San Diego Lindsay has hit five three-pointers in three of his last four games played.
