The James Madison (22-3, 9-3 SBC) men's basketball team is set to host Sun Belt foe Georgia State (11-13, 5-7 SBC) on Thursday evening at the Atlantic Union Bank Center.
Tip-off at the Atlantic Union Bank Center is scheduled for 8 p.m. following the women's game.
 PACING THE PANTHERS
Georgia State arrives in Harrisonburg with a two-game win streak.
In the team's last time out, GSU secured a decisive 73-53 victory over Miami (Ohio) in the MAC-SBC Challenge on Saturday. Coincidentally, Miami (Ohio) defeated Akron about a week before the Zips lost to JMU on Saturday.
In the win over Miami, Georgia State's defense was exceptional, limiting Miami to just 19.4% shooting from beyond the arc and holding the RedHawks to their lowest point total and shooting percentage against Division I opponents this season.
Toneari Lane led the team with 17 points, followed by Lucas Taylor with 15 points.
The Panthers are 11-13 on the season, 5-7 in SBC play. At home, they are 7-3, but have struggled on the road (4-10).
They arrive in Harrisonburg with wins over Miami (Ohio), and Louisiana, which broke up a six-game skid.
 LAST TIME OUT FOR JMU
The Dukes are coming off a major 73-59 non-conference win last weekend over Akron. The game was broadcast on ESPN2, the second time that JMU has been on the national stage this season.Â
JMU completed an undefeated non-conference season. Only Houston, Purdue and Ole Miss can say the same.
Michael Green III led the team with 17 points and four assists while shooting 80% from three (4-5). He has 497 assists in his career, which ranks in the Top 50 among active players in the country.
This is one of the nation's Top 10 most experienced rosters, per KenPom.com. Collectively, the group of six players listed above have played in over 760 games, and have scored over 6,700 points in their careers.
JMU's victory over Akron capped a 9-2 day for the Sun Belt over MAC opponents, earning the Sun Belt Conference the MAC-SBC Challenge belt.
WHAT'S AT STAKE
The Dukes and Panthers have met 16 times in the history of the matchup. The first meeting came nearly 48 years ago (12/76).
Georgia State holds the all-time series lead 9-7, with one-win advantages in Georgia (4-3) and in Harrisonburg (5-4).
With this being the first of two games for this matchup this season, the Dukes could even the all-time series record, the road record, and the home record if they win both games.
JMU enters Thursday with a two-game win streak vs. the Panthers.
Both teams are riding win streaks (JMU has four straight wins, Georgia has two straight wins).Â
