THE DUKES WENT DOWN TO GEORGIA
- Following a midweek win at Marshall, the James Madison (25-3, 12-3 SBC) men's basketball team has made its journey to Statesboro, Georgia.
- The Dukes are set to face Georgia Southern (6-22, 6-9 SBC) on Saturday, with tip-off at Hanner Fieldhouse slated for 5 p.m. EST.
Â
EAGLES AND DUKES, ROUND 2
- The Dukes and Eagles have only faced each other three times in the history of the matchup, with JMU leading the all-time series, 2-1.
- Just last week, Georgia Southern visited Harrisonburg for the first meeting between these teams this season. It was Senior Night for the Dukes, as the hosts came away with an 87-80 win at the Atlantic Union Bank Center.
- Now, exactly one week later, the Eagles are looking to settle the score and end the Dukes' seven-game win streak.
- Both teams have played just one game between this rematch. JMU took a sound 84-58 win at Marshall on Wednesday, and Georgia Southern took down Texas State, 84-76, on Thursday night.
- JMU won the first-ever meeting of these two teams, 82-71 (Jan. 14, 2023) at the Atlantic Union Bank Center.
- The teams played less than a month later, and Georgia Southern won that game 76-73 in Statesboro, Ga. (Feb. 9 2023).
Â
EAGLE SCOUTING
- Georgia Southern is coming off an 84-76 win over Texas State on Thursday evening.Â
- The Eagles remain at home to host the Dukes in their second of four games at Hanner Fieldhouse to close out their regular season slate.
- GSU is 3-5 (.375) at home, but just 2-14 (.125) on the road. After a narrow loss on the road to the Dukes last week, the Eagles are looking to defend their home court and initiate a two-game win streak for the second time this season.

SIR DUKES
- On Wednesday, the 2023-2024 Dukes secured their place in program history as the team with the most wins in a single season, earning  their 25th victory of the year.
- JMU finished the game shooting a season-high 57 percent from three, and made its third-most 3-point field goals in a game (13-23).
- JMU's 3-point field goal defense ranks in the top-10 nationally. It held Marshall to shoot just 13.3 percent in the game.
- JMU leads the Sun Belt in PPG (84.8), Field Goal % (.477), and APG (16.7).
- Terrence Edwards Jr. earned his third Player of the Week honor. It was the fifth time a JMU player earned this distinction during the 2023-2024 campaign. T.J. Bickerstaff has also earned the award twice. Edwards and Bickerstaff are two of just four players in the conference to be named Player of the Week on more than one occasion.
- The Dukes are one of just three teams to have two different players win the award, and the only team to have two players win the award more than twice each.
- Since a stretch of seven games where JMU was 4-3 during January, entering Saturday the team has won its last seven games since then.
- Julien Wooden enters the game having played in 82 wins during his time at JMU. The record is currently held by Dan Ruland and David Dupont who each played in 83 wins between 1979-1983.
