HARRISONBURG, Va. – Texas State's Sam Hall limited the bats of James Madison baseball to four hits in a complete game as the Dukes fell, 8-1, on Saturday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Park.
The Dukes dropped their fourth straight game and fell to 13-10, 1-4 Sun Belt. The Bobcats improved to 14-9, 4-1 Sun Belt.
Sophomore
Mike Mancini led the Dukes at the plate, going 2-for-4. On the mound, sophomore
Max Kuhle got the start and went a career-high six innings. He struck out four and allowed four runs (two earned).
How It Happened
First Inning
Texas State scratched a run across without recording a hit, getting a pair of base runners on from walks, moving over on a passed ball and then scoring on a sacrifice fly.
Third Inning
Aaron Lugo hit a solo shot to give Texas State a 2-0 lead.
Fourth Inning
Back-to-back one-out doubles scored a run for the Bobcats before adding a second run to make it 4-0 on a throwing error that would've ended the inning.
Fifth Inning
JMU got on the board on a
Jason Schiavone double, as freshman
Kyle Langley drew a walk ahead of Schiavone and scored all the way from first to make it 4-1.
Seventh Inning
The Bobcats loaded the bases with no outs and proceeded to score four runs on a two-run double, a single and a sacrifice fly to take an 8-1 lead.
Game Notes
- Jason Schiavone has now recorded at least one RBI in five straight games.
- Texas State left 12 runners on base.
