PHILADELPHIA – Miranda Stanhope improved her school-record 10,000-meter time with a 33:43.48 effort at the Penn Relays on Thursday night at Franklin Field.
Stanhope's seventh-place performance was a nearly 10-second improvement from her race at the Raleigh Relays, where she crossed the finish line in 33:53.09. Sophomore Katherine Lawson also produced a personal-best effort of 34:00.84, good for third in the JMU record book and 11th in the competition.

"It's late, but a great night. Miranda ran ten seconds faster at 33:43.48, while Katherine moved to 34:00.84. I am so proud of these young ladies."

The Dukes will have a tune-up at Liberty's Twilight Qualifier on May 1. Action at the Matthes-Hopkins Track Complex is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Following the meet in Lynchburg, Va., the Dukes will prepare for the Sun Belt Outdoor Championships. The league meet will take place in Monroe, La., hosted by ULM on May 9-11, and will stream on ESPN+.
