Abigail Beattie helped the Philippines Women's National Lacrosse Team receive an invitation to the 2026 World Lacrosse Championships after securing a bronze medal at the Asia-Pacific Games last week, hosted in Australia.
The bronze medal is the first for a women's lacrosse team out of the country.
Beattie's Filipino heritage comes from her mom's side, whose parents were both born there and later immigrated to the United States and became citizens.
My experience with the team was unreal." Beattie said. "It was unlike anything I had ever done before and truly an experience of a lifetime. To represent my heritage and my family was a tremendous honor and to be able to pave the way as Team One, to make history medaling and qualifying for the World Championships in 2026 has been the most rewarding experience I could've been a part of!"

Beattie graduated from Kettle Run High School in Warrenton, Va., where she led her team to back-to-back state tournament appearances in lacrosse while earning the VHSL Region 4B Lacrosse Player of the Year and four-time VHSL Region 4B First Team Goalie (2021-2024).
The Dukes begin their spring campaign on Friday, February 7, against North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
