EARLYSVILLE, Va. –
Sidney Walters paced the James Madison cross country team with a 6K time of 21:53.7 as the Dukes placed 26th out of 36 scoring teams at the NCAA Southeast Regional on Friday morning at Virginia's Panorama Farms Cross Country Course.

JMU totaled 827 points (121-164-173-179-190), behind 25th-place Radford (783). NC State captured its ninth consecutive regional title, placing three in the top 10 for 54 points (2-6-8-14-24), with South Carolina coming in second with 97 (1-18-20-21-37). North Carolina (3rd – 108), Virginia (4th – 136) and Wake Forest (5th – 144) rounded out the top five teams.

Salma Elbadra of South Carolina took home the individual title in 19:03.1 to beat out NC State's Hannah Gapes (19:08.3).

For JMU,
Taylor Myers (22:35.7) was the second Duke to cross the finish line, followed by
Madison Cole (PR – 22:45.8),
Izzy Greene (22:53.6) and
Faith Ford (23:04.8). The Dukes posted an average 6K time of 22:39 with a 1:11 spread between the scoring five.

"We had hoped to finish higher as a team, but I was very proud of our effort. We have run consistently all year, and this race was no exception. Our team average was 10 seconds faster than we ran on this course last month, and 53 seconds faster than our times at regionals last year."
