TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – James Madison baseball dropped its series finale against No. 9 Florida State on Sunday afternoon, 10-0, at Dick Howser Stadium. The game ended in the eighth inning due to the 10-run rule.

After the opening weekend of the 2025 season, the Dukes are 0-3 while the Seminoles improved to 3-0.

Wyatt Peifer and freshman
Creed Erdos. Senior
Todd Mozoki went 2.2 innings on the mound as the starter for the Dukes, striking out one and allowing three unearned runs.

How It Happened
Second Inning
A pair of errors committed by the Dukes kept the second inning alive and allow FSU to plate three runs. A fielding error with two outs allowed a run to score from second base and was followed by a run-scoring single for a 2-0 lead. An Alex Lodise single was next, but an error in center field allowed Gage Harrelson to score from first base to make it 3-0.

Fourth Inning
Florida State manufactured their fourth run of the game, with Chase Williams leading off with a single, stealing second and then scoring on a hit-and-run off a single by Lodise.

Fifth Inning
Two singles put a pair of runners on for Florida State, who managed to move both in scoring position and bring them home on a two-run single to make the score 6-0. Another single added a third run in the inning to make it 7-0.

Seventh Inning
A single in the seventh brought home a run for the Seminoles to make the score 8-0.

Eighth Inning
FSU used a sacrifice fly and a single to score a pair of runs and secure the 10-0 win.

- The Dukes were shut out twice in a three-game span for the first time since a series at No. 8 Louisville on March 1-2, 2019.
- The two total runs in the opening weekend are the least number of runs scored by JMU since the first three games of 2006.
- JMU pitchers combined for 25 strikeouts in the first three games, the most since 2021 in the opening weekend.
