CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – A four-run fourth inning pushed Virginia past James Madison softball by a score of 6-0 in a Tuesday early evening matchup at Palmer Park in Charlottesville.

After trailing just 1-0 through the first three frames, JMU (11-10) gave up three consecutive walks with two outs in the bottom of the fourth inning, making room for UVA (18-7) to open a four-spot and extend its lead to five.

Bella Cabral led the offensive charge for the Cavaliers with three hits and two RBI, including a solo home run in the first inning. Kelly Ayer also had two RBI on one hit for UVA, both coming in that fourth inning.

Julia Cuozzo and Savanah Henley combined to hold the Dukes to just six hits over seven innings and striking out seven JMU batters.

Payton List earned her 11th multi-hit game of 2025, going 2-for-3 with two singles. She also came on in relief for
Madalyn Johnson and pitched 2.1 innings of one-run ball, allowing three hits while striking out one.

Abbie Campbell also had two hits in the contest, leading to her second game of two hits or more this season.
