Adam Horvath combined to allow one unearned run and struck out seven Marshall hitters as James Madison baseball took down the Thundering Herd, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon for the road series win at Jack Cook Field.

The Dukes improved to 9-16 overall and 4-2 in Sun Belt Conference action, as they have won their first two conference series for the first time since 2022. The Herd dropped to 12-12 (2-4 SBC).

Junior
Maddux Fleck was one of three Dukes to get a hit, going 1-for-5 and scoring both runs for JMU. Mozoki (2-3) hit season-high marks, as he went five-plus innings and struck out six to earn the win. Horvath earned his second save in as many days, tossing a perfect ninth inning.

First Inning
JMU jumped out to a lead in the first, as Fleck led off with a single before eventually scoring on a groundout from graduate
Corey Dowdell to make it 1-0.

Third Inning
Fleck came around to score again on a groundout, this time from senior
Coleman Calabrese. After leading off and getting on from an error, Fleck moved to third on a double off the bat of senior
Ryan Dooley before Calabrese's grounder made it 2-0.

Sixth Inning
Marshall got on the board to make it 2-1, scoring on a passed ball after putting runners on the corners.

Game Notes
- The Dukes won the series after losing the opener for the first time since taking a series at Winthrop on March 18-20, 2022.
- JMU came back to win a conference series after losing the first game for the first time since knocking off William & Mary on April 12-14, 2019.
- It is the first game three of a road series that the Dukes have won since knocking off then-No. 3 Arkansas on March 18, 2024.
- For the first time since the mentioned series at Winthrop in 2022, the Dukes won a rubber match on the road.
- After a sweep of Marshall in 2023 and taking two-of-three in 2024, the Dukes have taken a series from a league opponent in three consecutive seasons for the first time since beating both Hofstra and Towson from 2017-19.
- JMU won its first road series of the season.
