NEW YORK – After completing its first 18-0 conference mark in program history, James Madison women's basketball improved its position in receiving points in the latest Associated Press Top 25 Poll, announced Monday afternoon.
JMU earned five points, placing them as the fifth team outside the AP Top 25 to move up two spots from a week ago. This is the first time since the 2015-16 postseason that JMU received votes in consecutive weeks. James Madison last cracked the top 25 of the AP Poll on Feb. 16, 2015, when it checked in at No. 23. Additionally, the Dukes earned a point in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll on Tuesday, March 4.
The Dukes enter the postseason riding a 19-game winning streak and set a program record for regular-season wins, holding a 27-4 overall record.
JMU will compete in the first semifinal game of the 2025 Hercules Tires Sun Belt Conference Women's Basketball Championship, scheduled for March 9 at 12:30 p.m. ET (11:30 a.m. CT). There, the Dukes will face the winner of Game 9 between No. 4 seed Coastal Carolina and the victor of Game 7. The conference tournament will be held March 4-10 at the Pensacola Bay Center in Pensacola, Fla.
