TAMPA, Fla. - James Madison women's soccer's reigning Sun Belt Player and Freshman of the Year, Ginny Lackey, was chosen as the 2025 USL W League's Northwest Division Player of the Year for her performance with FC Olympia this summer.
Lackey contributed a club-record 11 goals over the summer, helping the team clinch the Northwest division title for the third-straight season. Additionally, Lackey chalked two assists, tying two other teammates for the club lead. Lackey was one of two players in the league to be chosen for both May and June Team of the Month. In July, Lackey was named FC Olympia's Offensive MVP.
Last season with the Dukes, the forward gathered 12 goals and ten assists as JMU finished 12-4-5 and captured the Sun Belt regular season and tournament championships. Compiling a laundry list of accolades along the way, Lackey was selected as a MAC Hermann Trophy Award Semifinalist and named Third Team All-American and First Team All-Southeast Region by United Soccer Coaches. She also finished in the top 19 for National Player of the Year.
Lackey and the Dukes will open the 2025 season on the road against NC State on August 14 before returning to Sentara Park to take on the Liberty Flames on August 17.
