STATESBORO, Ga. – Three members of the James Madison women's golf team finished inside the top 25 to lead the Dukes to a fifth-place finish at The Southern to open the 2025-26 season on Tuesday afternoon.

Freshman
Klára Sionková led the Dukes, tying for 15th in her collegiate debut with a three-round score of 226 (+10). Sionková opened the tournament with a one-under 71 on the par-72, 6,316-yard Forest Heights Country Club. She then carded rounds of 77 and 78 to close the tournament.

Junior
Grace Petzold (76-72-79) and freshman
Emerson Elm (76-73-78) tied for 17th at 227 (+11) to round out the top-25 finishes in the 70-player field.

As a team, James Madison placed fifth out of 13 teams with a 54-hole total of 912 (+48), finishing with rounds of 300-299-313 across the two-day tournament. Â

Rounding out the JMU contingent was sophomore
Bella Flores, who managed a three-round aggregate of 232 (+16) after tallying rounds of 77-77-78. Senior
Maria Atwood tied for 58th with a 54-hole score of 243 (+27) and rounds of 77-84-82.

The Dukes will be back in action at the Elon Invitational, which is set for Sept. 15-16 in Burlington, N.C.
