JMU TAKES ON TEXAS STATE SATURDAY AFTERNOON
- James Madison men's basketball will take on Texas State on Saturday, Jan. 24, at 1 p.m. eastern inside the Atlantic Union Bank Center.
- Tip-off inside the AUBC is set for 1 p.m. after winter weather moved up the game time from its previously schedule time of 4 p.m.
- JMU enters the game with a 9-11 record (2-6 Sun Belt), while Texas State is 11-10 (4-5 Sun Belt). JMU fell, 90-83, to South Alabama on Thursday, while Texas State dropped a road contest at Coastal Carolina 72-70.Â
LAST TIME OUT
- James Madison cut a 17-point deficit to four with two minutes remaining, but the Dukes were unable to complete the comeback bid, falling to South Alabama 90-83 at the Atlantic Union Bank Center on Thursday night.
- JMU (9-11, 2-6 Sun Belt) trailed by as many as 16 (74-58) with 5:23 left but cut the South Alabama (14-6, 5-3 SBC) held off the Dukes to come away with the win.
- The Dukes attempted a season-high 42 threes while turning the ball over 17 times, as the Jaguars scored 23 points off JMU's miscues.
- Adam Olsen scored 26 points to lead South Alabama in scoring, while JJ Wheat (17), Chaze Harris (15), and Jayden Cooper (14) also reached double figures.
- Along with McBride, the Dukes got 13 points from Cliff Davis while freshman Preston Fowler finished with 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
NUMBERS TO KNOW
- 30: Justin McBride finished with 30 points and 12 rebounds against South Alabama on Thursday for his first career double-double. McBride joins Denzel Bowles (3), Stuckey Mosley (3), and  Mark Freeman (3) as JMU players since 2010-11 with multiple 30-point games in the same season.
- 30-10: McBride is the first JMU player since Denzel Bowles on Dec. 22, 2010 to record a 30-point, 10-rebound double-double.
- 35:Â JMU freshman Christian was credited with a block in Thursday's game against South Alabama, bringing his 2025-26 season total to 35. In program history, Brown's 35 blocks ranks third among freshman, only trailing Trevon Flores (37, 2009-10) and Andre Nation (47, 2012-13)

- James Madison men's basketball fell in double overtime to Texas State, 102-93, on Friday, Feb. 28, 2025 at Strahan Arena to close the 2024-25 regular season.
- Elijah Hutchins-Everett led the Dukes with 22 points and 12 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. Mark Freeman and Bryce Lindsay recorded 19 points each, while Eddie Ricks III fiished with 10 rebounds along with eight points.
- Tylan Pope led Texas State in scoring, finishing with 23 points while adding six rebounds. Coleton Benson registered 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting off the bench, and Mark Drone added 18 of his own.
