CLEARWATER, Fla. – James Madison softball fell to No. 3 Tennessee, 11-0, on Friday evening at the Eddie C. Moore Complex.
The Dukes move to 2–2 on the season, while the Lady Vols remain unbeaten at 6–0.

Kylee Gleason paced JMU offensively, going 2-for-3, accounting for half of the Dukes' four total hits.
How It Happened
Fourth Inning:
- Tennessee broke the scoreless tie in the fourth inning, scoring three runs with four hits in the frame.
- Emma Clarke used a double to get the Lady Vols on the board, before a double steal and a run-scoring single netted runs for a 3-0 lead.
Fifth Inning:
- Tennessee extended its lead after a wild pitch allowed a run to score, followed by a two-RBI single up the middle from Mariah Rutan to make it 6–0.
Sixth Inning:
- Ella Dodge lined an RBI double down the right-field line, bringing home another run for a 7-0 score.
Seventh Inning:
- The Lady Vols capped the scoring as Bella Faw delivered a two-RBI single to center, Gabby Leach added an RBI double down the right-field line and McCall Sims drove in the final run with a sacrifice fly to center.
Game Notes
- Taylor Johnson started in the circle and set a new career-high in strikeouts with four, while being an out away from hitting her career-high in innings pitched. She pitched 3.2 innings.
