HARRISONBURG, Va. – After being down nine runs to Le Moyne heading into the bottom of the third inning, James Madison baseball scored 10 unanswered runs before ultimately winning 13-11 on Friday evening at Veterans Memorial Park for its largest comeback win in 17 years.
Â
The last comeback win by nine or more runs was on April 22, 2009, when the Dukes trailed by 10 after two innings and came back to take down Longwood, 16-14.
Â
The win was the first this season for JMU, as it improved to 1-3. The Dolphins fell to 0-4.
Â
Junior Josiah Segun led the way at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs scored, three RBI and a home run. He tied his career high in hits and runs score and came up clutch, with his home run in the fourth bringing the Dukes within one and his single in the seventh tying the game.
Â
Senior
Jaden Kinsler tossed 1.2 innings of relief to earn the win, while redshirt sophomore
Luke McGrath pitched the final 1.1 scoreless innings with two strikeouts to earn his first career save.

How It Happened
First Inning
The Dolphins led the game off with a pair of walks before a single up the middle scored the first run of the game.
Â
Second Inning
After a two-out walk, Le Moyne hit a double to knock in a run and lead 2-0.
Â
Third Inning
With a runner on first and two outs, a ball was hit to shortstop for a possible force play to end the inning at second. A wide throw kept the inning going, allowing seven runs to cross home plate for the Dolphins to make the score 9-0.
Â
The Dukes got a third of those runs back, as junior
Kyle Langley hit a triple and scored the next at bat on junior
Josiah Seguin's infield single up the middle. Junior
Ike Schmidly then hit his first run of the season to make it a 9-3 ball game.
Â
Fourth Inning

Wyatt Campbell led off the inning with a walk and moved to third on two stolen bases. Following another walk, redshirt sophomore
Clay Thompson singled in Campbell and set up junior
Kyle Langley to connect on a three-run blast to make it 9-7. Seguin then stepped up and sent the first pitch he saw over the center field wall to bring the Dukes within one at 9-8.

JMU evened the score on a
Jack Guerrero single up the middle, scoring freshman
Ryan Gocio from second after an error and a stolen base. The base knock knotted the score at nine.

Sixth Inning
A groundout from freshman
Keegan Haesler gave the Dukes the lead at 10-9, knocking in Seguin who led off with a hit by pitch.
Â
Seventh Inning
Back-to-back doubles from the Dolphins stopped the scoring run from JMU. Using the first double to tie the score, the second double regained the lead for Le Moyne at 11-10.
Â
With runners on the corners and two outs, Seguin stepped up and lined a single down the left field line to score Thompson and tie the game. Schmidly followed with a single of his own to put JMU back in front, 12-11.
