PERSONAL VOLLEYS
Why JMU? I choose to come to JMU for a number of reasons. I
had family ties to the University: my Dad came here and my
brother, John Snead, was a student and athlete here. I also
really liked the volleyball program and thought that the
school in general had a lot to offer.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Teaching and
Coaching Volleyball
Something that few people know about you: I have a scar
above my right eye.
Best class you’ve taken at: JMU:ISS 200 (Equality Focus)
with Dr. Spivey: I learned more in this one class that I
will use in my daily life than I have learned in all of my
other classes combined.
Favorite place you’ve traveled to: Chicago
First time you played volleyball: I started playing when I
was 12.
What influenced you want to play volleyball? My mom took me
to see one of her friends daughters play when I was in
eighth grade. The girl was state player of the year. I
fell in love with the fast pace of the game and signed up to
play that year.
Favorite place on campus: Our team locker room. I have
great memories of my teammates hanging out there (usually
sleeping between practices) during preseason, doing a
pregame “pump-up” dance, or just hanging out before practice.
Favorite quote: “In kindergarden, we all start out thinking
we can be anything we want to be, but by the time we get
there we’ve somehow lost that feeling. We’ve all started to
believe that whatever our parents or our friends have told
us about what we can achieve and who we can be in life and
we’ve forgotten about that possibility we had when we were
younger. If you believe in yourself, even when the odds
seem stacked against you, anything is possible.” And "No,
despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours
through Christ, who loved us" Romans 8:37
Advice for kids who want to play volleyball: Go for it, and
have fun!
