Primary Recruiting Area: Richmond area, Baltimore area and Southern Maryland... in 2004 coached tackle Frank Cobbs, a Third-Team All-Atlantic 10 pick... in 2005 ends Kevin Winston and Isai Bradshaw were First- and Second-Team All-League honorees, respectively... in 2006 Winston was First-Team All-League and first-team All-America by The Sports Network and College Sporting News and second team by Associated Press... tackles John Baranowsky and Chuck Suppon were Second-Team All-League in 2006... in 2007 Baranowsky was a College Sporting News All-America and first-team All-CAA, and defensive end Hassan Abdul-Wahid was second-team All-CAA... in 2008 Abdul-Wahid was Second-Team All-CAA, end Arthur Moats and tackle Sam Daniels Third-Team All-League choices and tackle J.D.Skolnitsky a Washington Redskins signee... in 2009 coached Buck Buchanan Award winner and consensus First-Team All-America defensive end Arthur Moats, a sixth-round draft selection of the NFL's Buffalo Bills... also coached 2009 Second-Team All-CAA defensive tackle Sam Daniels... in 2010 coached defensive tackle Ronnell Brown, a First-Team All-CAA selection.

Before JMU: Four-year letterman and defensive end starter at Virginia Tech from 1992-95 after being redshirted in 1991... on a Big East Conference title team... in 1995 was a team captain, first-team All-Big East and third-team All-America... on Virginia Tech teams that played in the Independence Bowl after the 1993 season, the Gator Bowl after the 1994 season and the Sugar Bowl after the 1995 season... third-round draft pick by the National Football League's Carolina Panthers in 1996 and was with the NFL's Arizona Cardinals in 1996 and 1997... an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Virginia Tech from 1997-98, defensive line coach and defensive coordinator at Radford High School from 1999-2001, and a graduate assistant coach at Virginia Tech from 2002 until joining the JMU staff... worked with the defensive line while on the Virginia Tech staff and assisted in team preparations for the Diamond Walnut San Francisco Bowl after the 2002 season and the Insight.com Bowl after the 2003 season... second-team all-metro (Washington, D.C.) at Northern High School.

Personal: Bachelor's degrees in 1998 in interdisciplinary studies and in 2002 in health and education and has begun a master's in health education program at Virginia Tech... married to the former Jennifer Root, a civil and environmental engineering graduate of Virginia Tech... they have two daughters, Madison Jane (7) and Riley Elizabeth (5).
