Local product Matthew Owens joins the James Madison Dukes following a successful high school career at Luray High in Luray, Va. Owens is a two-time First Team All-State selection along with being named the Bull Run District and Region 1B Player of the Year.
As a senior, he averaged 21 points, 5.0 assists, 2.0 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game for the Bulldogs, who finished 24-6 and won the Bull Run District title and made their first appearance in the state championship in 50 years. Owens also finished his high school career with over 1,700 points, breaking the previous school career record.
