Kendall Ahrens (née Wisenbaker) joined the Dukes prior to the 2021-22 season, immediately helping continue the transformation of the JMU Women's Golf program.
In 2021-22, Ahrens led the Dukes to new scoring heights, with players carding four of the five lowest single-season scoring averages ever recorded at JMU. As a team, the Dukes shattered every single-season record, setting a new lowest scoring average (293.03) by more than eight strokes and posting nine team rounds of par or better, having recorded just four such rounds in all of JMU history prior to the season.
In her first season, Ahrens helped guide Kendall Turner and Kate Owens to all-conference awards, with Turner setting the new program record for single-season scoring average at 73.24 (+1.33).
Ahrens came to JMU from Mississippi State, where she wrapped up a four-year playing career in 2019 before transitioning to coaching as both an operations fellow and assistant coach with the Bulldogs.
After stepping into the assistant coaching role this past January, she helped lead a remarkable turnaround that culminated in MSU finishing fifth in stroke play at the SEC Championships before reaching the finals of the match play portion, finishing the season ranked no. 42 in the country.
Prior to serving as assistant coach, Ahrens was with the program as an operations fellow, helping the coaching staff with player analysis and evaluation, while also assisting with practice planning, travel, recruiting and other logistical operations with the program.
Ahrens wrapped up her playing days at MSU in the spring of 2019, graduating with a B.B.A. in marketing before starting her coaching career.
