RICHMOND, Va., Oct. 27, 2006 - Junior Allyson Halls (Columbus, Ohio/Olentangy) had 20 kills and hit .500 to lead James Madison University to a 3-2 win at Virginia Commonwealth University in a Colonial Athletic Association volleyball match on Friday.

JMU (17-6, 11-3 CAA) defeated VCU (12-12, 6-8 CAA) by game scores of 30-28, 30-25, 28-30, 27-30, and 15-8. The Dukes won their eighth match in a row and 13th out of 14 overall. It was also the 11th win in the last 12 CAA matches for JMU.

Halls had her sixth performance of at least 20 kills this season. It was also the sixth time that she hit at least .500 for a match. She added four digs and five blocks. Junior Hanna Porterfield (Arlington, Va./Bishop O'Connell) had 15 kills while freshman Kaitlin McFaddin (Natural Bridge Station, Va./Rockbridge) had 14 kills. Sophomore Michelle Johnson (Los Gatos, Calif./Los Gatos) also had a solid hitting performance with 13 kills and a .435 attack percentage.

Sophomore setter Lauren Miles (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Prep) collected 66 assists, one shy of her career high. She moved into ninth place on the season assists chart with 1,128 so far this season. It was also her sixth performance of at least 60 kills this season. Miles added 10 digs for a double-double along with two blocks and five kills. Junior libero Jena Pierson (San Antonio, Texas/James Madison) had 33 digs for her fourth 30-dig effort of the season. Senior Bayli Stillwell (Steamboat Springs, Colo./Steamboat Springs) had nine kills, three assists, 13 digs, and four blocks. Freshman Nicole Fenner (Duluth, Ga./Wesleyan) and senior Amanda Snead (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) each had 10 digs.

Ludmila Francescatto (Frailburga, Brazil/Arizona Western) led the Rams with a double-double with 19 kills and 11 digs. Elisa Kuehnel (Dresden, Germany/Sportsgymnasium) added 16 kills. Ana Luiza de Borja (Florianopolis, Brazil/Colegio Geracao) had a double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs. Renata Salvatori (Londrina, Brazil/Arizona Western) contributed 11 kills. Catherine Juson (Long Beach, Calif./Bush) had 48 assists and eight digs. Laryssa Goncalves (Curitiba, Brazil/Colegio Dom Bosco) contributed 14 digs.
