HARRISONBURG, Va., Feb. 26, 2006 – Sophomore center fielder Kellen Kulbacki (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) blasted a pair of homers and drove in four runs to lead James Madison to a 15-4 victory against visiting Fairfield in non-conference college baseball on a cold Sunday afternoon at Long Field/Mauck Stadium.

The Dukes completed a three-game sweep of the series and upped their record to 3-4. Fairfield, playing its earliest games ever in the program's 56-year history, dropped to 0-3.

Kulbacki hit his first homer of the afternoon in his first at bat, launching the Dukes to a 2-0 lead and an eight-run first inning. Senior designated hitter Matt Sluder (Mechanicville, Va./Lee-Davis) also hit a two-run homer in the frame, as the first seven men that came to the plate made it all the way around the bases.

Kulbacki finished the afternoon 3-for-4 with four RBIs. He went 9-for-11 with three homers and drove in 11 in the series. Sluder was 3-for-3 with the two RBIs Sunday.

Senior second baseman Michael Cowgill (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay) hit a solo homer in the third inning and was 2-for-3 in the game with two RBIs. He homered in each game of the series.

Sophomore right-hander Ryan Reid (Portland, Maine/Deering) evened his mound record to 1-1 by working the first five innings. He gave up one earned run on three hits, walked four and fanned eight in his second start of the season. Reid has allowed just two earned runs in 10 innings of duty thus far this young season.

Sophomore designated hitter Peter Allen (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck) and junior second baseman Brian Schappert (Wyckoff, N.J./St. Joseph's) combined for five of the Stags' eight hits. Allen went 3-for-5 with one RBI, while Schappert was 2-for-3. Sophomore left fielder Tyler Birrittella (Tarrytown, N.Y./Sleepy Hollow) drove in two runs with a double in the second inning.
