HARRISONBURG, Va., Oct. 16, 2007 ? Four players had at least eight kills and James Madison University hit .339 as a team in a 3-0 non-conference volleyball victory over Howard University on Tuesday evening in Sinclair Gymnasium.

JMU (12-8) defeated Howard (4-20) by game scores of 30-26, 30-13, and 30-16. The Dukes won their second match in a row and improved to 12-2 in the all-time series against the Bison.

Senior Allyson Halls (Columbus, Ohio/Olentangy) hit .393 with 16 kills and seven digs. She climbed from eighth into a tie for sixth on the career kills chart, matching Larissa Winkler (1998-00, 2002) with 1,115.

Junior setter Lauren Miles (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Prep) had 43 assists and eight kills on 11 attempts with just one error for a .636 attack percentage. It was a career high hitting percentage for Miles and a season-best mark for the Dukes. Miles also passed the 2,500 assists mark for her career with 2,501 and needs just 18 to move into fourth in JMU history.

Senior libero Jena Pierson (San Antonio, Texas/James Madison) had 22 digs and a career-high five assists. She moved from seventh to fifth on the season digs chart with 423 and now holds three of the top five season totals in JMU history. She also became the first JMU player to surpass 1,900 career digs with 1,914

Junior Kelsey McNamara (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North), rebounding from injuries that kept her out for most of the 2006 season, had a season-best nine kills and six digs with a .421 attack percentage. Freshman Lindsay Callahan (Virginia Beach, Va./Landstown) had 11 kills and five digs. Freshman Kelly Johnson (Charlotte, N.C./Providence) had two kills and a solo block for her first career statistics in either category.

Howard was led by senior Morgan Maxwell (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Par) with seven kills and 10 digs. Freshman Gazelle d'Artois (Newhall, Calif./Hart) had 22 assists and five digs.
