HARRISONBURG, Va., Sept. 14, 2007 ? James Madison University hit a season-high .353 as a team with four players tallying double-digit kills in a 3-0 win over Charleston Southern University in the opening session of the JMU/Days Inn Invitational on Friday morning.

JMU improved to 5-4 with the win and has a winning record for the first time since winning the season opener. The Dukes won by game scores of 30-26, 30-25, and 30-13. CSU dropped to 6-5. The Dukes had hit over .300 as a team just once this season with a .316 mark against Rutgers in the 2007 opener. It was JMU's highest team attack percentage since a 3-0 win at UNC Wilmington on Oct. 30, 2005.

Junior setter Lauren Miles (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Prep) had 46 assists and 10 digs to mark the first double-double by a JMU player this season. She also had three blocks. The assists were a season high for a three-game match. She needs 30 assists to become the sixth JMU player to reach 2,000 career assists.

Four players had double-digit kills for the second time this season. Junior Michelle Johnson (Los Gatos, Calif./Los Gatos) had 13 kills and three blocks. Freshman Lindsay Callahan (Virginia Beach, Va./Landstown) had 12 kills, two aces, seven digs, and two blocks to lead the team with 15 total points. Sophomore Kaitlin McFaddin (Natural Bridge Station, Va./Rockbridge) also had 12 kills and hit a team-best .588 with just two errors on 17 swings. Senior Allyson Halls (Columbus, Ohio/Olentangy) had 11 kills, three digs, and five blocks. Senior libero Jena Pierson (San Antonio, Texas/James Madison) and freshman Sofia Lindroth (Edwards, Colo./Battle Mountain) had 11 and 10 digs respectively.

The Buccaneers' attack was led by senior Renae Popovich (Stoney Creek, Ontario/Orchard Park) with seven kills and three digs. Sophomore Sam Sasan (Lake Forest, Calif./El Toro) had 19 assists and six digs for CSU.

In the opening match of the day, Florida Gulf Coast University won its seventh match in a row and improved to 7-1 overall with a 3-0 win over Elon University, which dropped to 4-6. The Eagles won by game scores of 30-27, 30-17, and 30-18.
