HARRISONBURG, Va., Sept. 3, 2009 - The James Madison Athletics Department announced today the timeline for the Bridgeforth Stadium (football complex) Expansion. The project, slated to take approximately 20 months, will commence at the end of the 2009 football season.
"This project will transform Bridgeforth Stadium into a state-of-the-art facility," said JMU Athletics Director Jeff Bourne. "The addition of approximately 10,000 seats, a club section, and a suite area will give our alums, fans and supporters an experience unparalleled to any in the Football Championship Subdivision."
Following the 2009 football season, the existing west side stands will be demolished and construction will begin immediately to rebuild the lower portion of the west side. This portion of the stadium will be completed by the fall of 2010.
Following the 2010 football season, construction will continue on the hospitality suites and club section, and begin on the upper deck of the west side and on the north end zone. The new upper deck portion of the stadium will feature a new press box and expanded light tower.
The Bridgeforth Stadium expansion project is scheduled to be completed by kick-off of the 2011 football season.
