MOBILE, Ala. –
Bridget Koller highlighted James Madison's weekend at the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship, claiming a runner-up finish in the 800 meters in 2:09.64 on Saturday at the Jaguar Track & Field Complex.
Â
Koller was the lone Duke to reach the podium at this year's league title meet and is the first JMU athlete to score – let alone podium – in the 800 meters at the Sun Belt Outdoor Championship since James Madison joined the conference for the 2022-23 season.
Â
Mykenzie Britton picked up five points for the Dukes with a PR of 53.65 in the 400-meter dash for fourth, placing her second in program history. With the effort, Britton became just the second JMU athlete to break 54 seconds in the outdoor event, joining former Duke
Holly Mpassy, who owns the program record at 53.23.
Â
In the 400-meter hurdles,
Sky Bleu Tyson made a late push to take sixth in 1:00.53. Tyson is the first Duke to score in the event since Sofa Lavreshina finished fifth in 1:01.14 in 2023.
Â
Lastly on the track, the 4x400-meter relay team of
Kadence Wilson,
Christine Fitzgerald,
Esther Saint-Germain, and Britton produced a season-best time of 3:41.99 for sixth – good for fourth all-time in program history. In the field,
Aidan Faith tied for eighth in the high jump competition at 1.66m (5-5.25), splitting points with Aubrey Evans (South Alabama), and Bostyn Baskin (Texas State).
