Game Plan
- James Madison wraps up the road portion of its non-conference slate on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. when it travels to Muncie, Ind., to take on Ball State at Worthen Arena.
- This is JMU's second trip to the state of Indiana in as many seasons as it traveled to Valparaiso last season.
- The game can be seen live on Ball State All-Access for a small fee of $7.95. It will also be heard on the JMU/nTelos Wireless Broadcast Network and WSVA AM 550.
Scouting Report
- Saturday marks the second meeting between JMU and Ball State as the Dukes won the first meeting last season, a 73-68 victory on Dec. 30, 2013, in Harrisonburg. In that triumph for JMU, Charles Cook scored 20 points with six steals and Ron Curry had 17 points, six rebounds and six assists while Andrey Semenov added 16 points. JMU shot 50 percent as a team and outscored the Cardinals 17-11 off turnovers and 10-2 in transition.
- Madison sits at 6-3 this season and is seeking its first road win of the year having lost the previous two while BSU is 3-4, with a 3-0 mark at home.
- Last time out, JMU led by 11 early in the first half but East Carolina battled back and was able to surge to a 70-58 win last Saturday in Greenville, N.C. Terry Whisnant scored a game-high 24 points and ECU forced JMU into 12 second-half turnovers as they outscored the Dukes 24-14 off giveaways for the game.
- Ron Curry led JMU with 13 points while Joey McLean, in his first game back since Nov. 14, filled the stat sheet with season-highs of 10 points, five assists and five steals. It was the first time in 2014-15 that JMU lost a game after leading at halftime and with 10 minutes remaining in the second half.
- Through the first nine games, Jackson Kent leads three Dukes in double-figure scoring with 11.7 points per game. A very balanced offense, Yohanny Dalembert averages 10.7 points and 5.6 rebounds while Ron Curry pulls in 10.2 points and 4.6 assists while three others score between 9.0 and 9.8 points per contest. The Dukes average 65.7 points to their opponents' 67.0 points per game as they shoot nearly 45 percent from the floor.
- For Ball State, Zavier Turner and Sean Sellers score 14.6 points per game. Jeremie Tyler also averages 11.9 per outing while Matt Kamieniecki brings down 8.1 rebounds per contest. BSU outscores its foes 73.7 to 65.4 and shoots 46 percent from the floor and 43 percent from long range. BSU is coming off a 65-62 loss at Valparaiso in which it led by 12 points in the first half.
- The Dukes return home Saturday to open up a four-game home stand when it hosts High Point at 5 p.m. in the second game of a double-header at the JMU Convocation Center.
