Scouting Report
- JMU enters Thursday with an 11-8 overall record and 4-2 mark in CAA play while Northeastern is 13-6 on the year with a 5-1 mark in league play. The Dukes are 3-3 on the road this season while the Huskies sport a 4-2 home record.
- This is the 19th meeting ever between the two programs and Northeastern holds a 13-5 record against JMU, which includes a 4-2 mark in Boston. In the previous meeting, less than two weeks ago on Jan. 8, NU overcame a 10-point, second-half deficit and used a 13-0 run late in the half to escape Harrisonburg with a 65-59 triumph.
- Quincy Ford scored a game-high 19 points and Scott Eatherton posted a double-double with 13 points and game-best 13 rebounds. Winston Grays led the Dukes by scoring 15 points off the bench, after hitting three treys.
- Last time out for the Dukes, they completed the week sweep with a 75-72 home win against Elon on Saturday at the JMU Convocation Center. Yohanny Dalembert led the team with a game-high 16 points while Jackson Kent had 15 points. Ron Curry contributed 10 points while Tom Vodanovich had nine points and a career-best 12 rebounds and Winston Grays added nine points and seven rebounds.
- JMU led 70-62 late but Elon put together an 8-1 run to trim the deficit to a single point with 73 seconds left. A Dalembert basket and Curry free throws were enough as the Phoenix's last-second trey was to force overtime was off the mark.
- Comparing the two squads in Thursday's matchup, JMU scores 65.3 points and allows 65.4 to its foes, including a CAA-only best 59.2 points allowed through six league outings, while NU averages 66.6 points for and 64.1 points against.
- JMU shoots 44.5 percent from the floor and 32.4 percent from long range while limiting opponents to 42.1 percent and 32.7 percent, respectively. In league play, JMU leads the CAA by holding the opposition to 38.7 percent shooting. The Huskies shoot 46.6 percent and 37.8 percent while their foes shoot 43.8 percent and 33.1 percent.
- Players to watch are the league's top-two shooters in JMU's Yohanny Dalembert and Northeastern's Scott Eatherton.
- Dalembert has averaged 13.3 points per game in CAA play (11.2 on year) and is shooting 70.2 percent from the floor while also shooting 61.7 percent for the entire year. He has 12 games in double figures with one double-double, leading the team with 5.3 rebounds per game.
- Eatherton is averaging 15.5 points per game in conference action (15.4 on year) and is second in shooting with a 62.5 percent clip, while also converting 60.4 percent for the entire season. He is third in rebounding with 6.9 boards per outing and has five double-doubles in 2014-15, including two in CAA action.
- Following this game, JMU heads to Hempstead, N.Y., to battle Hofstra on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Mack Sports Complex.
