Game Plan
- James Madison completes its trek to the northeast on Saturday at 4 p.m. when it takes on Hofstra at the Mack Sports Complex in Hempstead, N.Y.
- The game can be seen online at Pride Productions and MadiZONE HD SportsNet. The game can also be heard on the JMU/nTelos Wireless Broadcast Network and on the local airwaves at WSVA AM 550 and 92.1 FM beginning at 3:30 p.m.
Scouting Report
- JMU enters Thursday with an 11-9 overall record and 4-3 mark in CAA play while Hofstra is 14-6 on the year with a 5-2 mark in league play. The Dukes are 3-4 on the road this season while the Pride sports a 6-2 home record.
- This is the 22nd meeting ever between the two programs and Hofstra holds a 14-7 record against JMU, which includes a 6-3 mark in Hempstead. Last season the teams split the series, with home teams winning in each contest. In the previous meeting, HU ended the regular season by rallying for an 82-71 win over JMU on March 1, 2014. Jamall Robinson scored a game-high 22 points while Zeke Upshaw had 18 points to help the Pride overcome a halftime deficit. Andrey Semenov led the Dukes with 17 points while Ron Curry and Charles Cooke both had 15.
- Last time out for the Dukes, they fell 82-59 in Boston at Northeastern after the Huskies used a fast start, leading wire-to-wire. NU opened the game on a 25-6 run and knocked down eight treys in the first half to build a lead greater than 20 before the break. JMU never drew closer than 17 at any point in the second half as NU shot better than 50 percent from the floor and beyond the arc.Â
- Ron Curry scored a season-high 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting and was perfect from range, going 5-for-5, producing a new career high in treys made. Yohanny Dalembert also had 10 points and seven rebounds. NU was led by T.J. Williams, who had 17 points, while David Walker added 15.
- Comparing the two squads in Saturday's matchup, JMU scores 64.9 points while allowing 66.2 to its foes and Hofstra brings in the top-scoring team in the CAA with 79.4 points per contest. They also have a CAA-best plus-12.4 scoring margin, giving up 67.1 to the opposition. HU shoots 45 percent from the floor and 38.9 percent from deep while holding opponents to 41.4 percent and 31.6 percent. JMU shoots 44.5 percent and 32.9 percent while the Dukes allow teams to shoot 42.7 percent and 33.6 percent.
- Players to watch in this game are JMU's Ron Curry and Hofstra's Juan'ya Green.
- Curry leads JMU during CAA play, scoring 13.0 points per game in the seven league outings and has scored in double figures in all but on CAA game. He also averages 3.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists. For the year, the junior is second for JMU with 10.9 points per game and ranks second in the CAA with 4.3 assists per game.
- Green ranks fourth in the CAA with 17.4 points per game and is the league leader in assists, with 6.5 per outing, while also placing third with 1.6 steals. He has recorded at least six assists on 11 occasions and has five double-doubles, dishing out a season-high 11 assists in four of his five double-doubles.
- Following this game, JMU returns home to open a three-game homestand Wednesday night against Delaware.
