HARRISONBURG, Va. -
Worathon Zeng has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the James Madison men's golf team for the 2017-18 season, as announced by Head Coach
Jeff Forbes on Tuesday afternoon.
Â
Zeng, the 2016 Southeast Asia Student Athletics Conference Champion and 2016 SEASAC Player of the Year, comes to JMU from Bangkhen, Bangkok, Thailand, where he captained the golf team at Ruamrudee International School. He is currently No. 8 in Thailand for the 15-18 age division, after climbing as high as third earlier this year.
Â
"Worathon has consistently competed against some of the best junior golfers in the world," Forbes said. "His experience at that level will make for a smooth transition to college golf."
Â
Zeng closes out the Dukes' signing class for the fall of 2016, joining
Ignacio Gimeno Montero and
Ben Tucker,
who signed with JMU last week.
Â
The Dukes' win at the Camden Collegiate Invite on October 23 closed out their fall season, which saw them post four top-fives as a team in just five tournaments. JMU will open its spring season, consisting of five tournaments prior to the Colonial Athletic Association Championships and possible post-season play, with the Tiger Invitational, hosted by Auburn in Opelika, Ala. from Sun. March 5-Tues. March 7.
