HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison men's tennis suffered a 7-0 setback to Elon on Friday afternoon at Hillside Courts.
The Dukes fell to 7-7 overall and 1-2 in Colonial Athletic Association play. The Phoenix improved to 11-4 and 1-0 in the CAA.
After winning the doubles point with 6-2 victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions, Elon took command of the match by winning the first set at every singles position. Five of the six singles matches were two-set victories.
Junior
Alex Berdnikoff battled for three sets against Chris Humphreys, losing 6-1, 7-5, 6-4 at the No. 6 position.
Freshman
Tristan Stitt also had a tightly contested match, losing 7-6(3), 7-6(4) at No. 4 singles to Salvador Mijares. Junior
Sebastian Salinas fell at No. 1 singles to Mario Paccini 7-5, 6-3.
The Dukes return to the court Wednesday, March 23 when they host Richmond at 3 p.m.
