HARRISONBURG, Va. - Junior
Steffi Page fired home a goal in the third minute of the second overtime period on Thursday night, giving James Madison a 2-1, come-from-behind win over Towson in a crucial Colonial Athletic Association women's soccer match at Sentara Park. The win pushed the Dukes to 8-8 (3-4 CAA) and dropped Towson to 4-10-2 (1-5 CAA) on the year.
Â
Page's goal capped a night that saw the Dukes dominate on the stat sheet, racking up 25 shots to Towson's seven, putting 10 attempts on frame to the Tigers' three and winning the corner kick battle, 7-3. Despite that, Towson took the lead over JMU in the 83rd minute before junior
Stephanie Hendrie levelled things just five minutes later on a headed corner kick.
Â
HOW THEY SCORED
Towson
83' | The Tigers broke the deadlock late in the match, after Maddie Bove and Sydney Davis connected down the right wing. After a cross into the middle fell into traffic, Afton Kalkoske buried a shot from inside six yards for her first goal of the season.
JMU
88' | Hendrie balanced things shortly after, saving the Dukes' chances only five minutes after the go-ahead goal. After freshman
Sophie Brause swung in a corner kick, Hendrie beat her defender to the near post and flicked in a header that crossed the goalline before a Towson defender could clear it, levelling the match at 1-1 minutes before the final horn.
103' | Page provided the winner just 2:11 into the second overtime period after taking another pass from Brause in the middle of the field. The junior turned, took a touch and laced a shot from 25 yards out at the top of the box that dipped just under the crossbar and gave the Dukes their third win in league play.

QUOTING COACH LOMBARDO
"I'm really proud of the team tonight. They showed tremendous grit and resolve. We went from losing the game to tying it and winning it all in the course of a few minutes. They fought through an emotional roller coaster to get three big points. We're back in the mix for qualification with two matches left and I like our chances."
