Dukes Dominate Michigan in All Phases for 18-6 Road Victory

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Junior attacker Katie Kerrigan tallied a career-high six points and eight different players scored to lead James Madison to a dominant 18-6 win at Michigan on Saturday afternoon at Oosterbaan Field House.
The Dukes (1-1) had three players record hat tricks, led by Kerrigan, who had career highs of three goals and three assists. Junior attacker Kristen Gaudian matched her career high with a game-best four goals, and sophomore midfielder Hanna Haven produced her first career hat trick.
Senior midfielder Hannah Jablonski and junior midfielder Haley Warden each had two goals and an assist, while senior attacker Margaret Tucker Fogarty scored a pair of goals. Junior midfielder Elena Romesburg also tallied three points on a goal and two assists.
Junior goalkeeper Emily Poelma won her first career game as a starter, making eight saves on 14 shots on goal (57.1%).
JMU out-shot the Wolverines (0-2) 29-19, including 24-15 in shots on goal. A big improvement from games one to two came on the draw control, where the Dukes won 16 of 25, including a career-high seven wins by Warden. That moved her into 19th place all-time at JMU with 77 career draw controls.
Leading 3-2 just past the halfway point of the first half, JMU scored four in a row, including two by Jablonski, over a span of 2:42 to move ahead 7-2. After a Michigan goal, the Dukes closed the final 10 minutes by scoring four straight to claim an 11-3 advantage at the break.
The Dukes held the Wolverines without a goal for over 16 minutes to bridge the halves, which led to their first double-digit lead at 13-3 with 27:18 remaining in the game. UM never drew closer than nine down the stretch, and JMU ended the game with the final three goals for the 12-goal triumph.

Eight different players recorded goals in Saturday's win at Michigan, which included six players finding the back of the net two times or more. Scoring aside, JMU found production from a plethora of players across the board, as 11 Dukes had a ground ball and eight recorded at least one draw control win.
CAREER FIRSTS
Hanna Haven's strong start to her season continued, as she scored a career-high three goals for her first hat trick. Defensively, Lauren DuVall produced her first career caused turnovers and ground balls, finishing the game with two of each. Emma Johnson also had an interception for her first career caused turnover and ground ball.
