HARRISONBURG, Va. - Senior forward Ivan Lukic and junior forward Ramone Snowden each turned in career performances as James Madison produced its largest scoring output of the season en route to a thrilling 95-92 overtime victory against William & Mary in Colonial Athletic Association action on Thursday night at the JMU Convocation Center.
The Dukes improved to 8-20 overall and 6-9 in CAA play, while the Tribe fell to 14-12 and 8-7. The 95 points were the most for JMU since scoring 98 on Feb. 7, 2016, which came in an overtime triumph versus Hofstra at home.
Lukic scored a career-high 19 points, to go with six rebounds and two blocks, and Snowden tallied a career-best 18 points while matching his career high of eight rebounds.
Junior guard Joey McLean also turned in 18 points while also producing five rebounds and four assists. Senior guard Jackson Kent pitched in 16 points and five boards, and senior forward Paulius Satkus contributed 14 points, eight rebounds and two steals.
JMU was red-hot out of the gate, going 18-of-29 (62.1 percent) in the first half to build an 11-point halftime lead that it would stretch to 56-42 with 15:49 to play. The Tribe whittled away, however, with the Dukes going just 9-of-27 (33.3 percent) from the field after the break and yielding a pair of W&M layups in the final 36 seconds as the Tribe forced overtime.
The Dukes never trailed in the extra frame, going up three with early buckets from McLean and Satkus before senior forward Dimitrije Cabarkapa drilled a straightaway three to make it 88-82 with 3:17 left. W&M battled back again, trimming the lead to 93-92 on a heavily-pressured three from Daniel Dixon with 5.5 seconds left, but Kent sank a pair of free throws and a running three-pointer from the Tribe caught iron to seal the victory.
Dixon led W&M and all scorers with 29 points, while Omar Prewitt posted a double-double with 17 points and 11 boards. Jack Whitman just missed a double-double of his own, going for 18 points and nine rebounds in the loss.
QUOTING COACH ROWE
"I'm so happy with the fight in this team. For these guys and for the great fans that came out, it's huge to get that win. I'm proud of these guys and hopefully we can get things rolling here."
Senior forward Dimitrije Cabarkapadrilled this three-pointer in overtime to stake the Dukes a six-point lead with just over three minutes left in the contest.
