WILMINGTON, N.C. – James Madison volleyball fell to UNCW, 3-1 (25-21, 18-25, 25-16, 25-21), in Colonial Athletic Association action Saturday night in Hanover Hall.
The Dukes (18-5, 10-2 CAA) avoided being swept thanks to a victory in the second set, but couldn't force the Seahawks (13-8, 6-5 CAA) into a fifth set for redemption.
Junior
M'Kaela White led JMU with 14 kills while junior
Sarah Martin led with 38 assists. Junior
Sarah Driscoll registered a match-leading 24 digs and senior
Taylor Gail topped the team with three blocks.
MATCH NOTES
- With 38 assists and 12 digs, Martin registered her eighth double-double of the season. This is the most double-double performances she's had in a single season since the seven during her freshman campaign.

Kelly Vahos had her seventh double-digit kill match of the season after tallying 11.
- Six Dukes tallied a service ace against the Seahawks. Driscoll and Martin each notched two service aces, while White,
Tilbe Yaglioglu,
Jacqui Koebel and
Savannah Marshall each had one.
- Along with Driscoll, Yaglioglu (14), Martin (12) and Marshall (10) put up double-digit digs.
- Seven Dukes added a block led by Gail's three. White and
Bryn Recker produced two apiece.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The teams began the match trading points, but when the Seahawks tied it up at 14-all, UNCW rode a 5-0 run to take the slim lead which they held until the end.
- Again, starting on even footing, the Dukes found their solid first advantage after two Martin aces, a Gail kill and a Seahawks attack error provided a run for JMU.
- UNCW's biggest lead in set three was nine points, but JMU was able to bring the set within two. The Seahawks closed the frame on a 5-0 run.
- Gaining the first seven point of the fourth set, the Seahawks took the lead that they would finish the match with, though the Dukes fought to finish on a four-point deficit.

The Dukes return to Harrisonburg for their last homestand of the regular season to host William & Mary on Friday, Nov. 2. First serve is slated for 7 p.m.
