HARRISONBURG, Va. – Senior
Bryn Recker achieved her 1,000th career dig as James Madison volleyball outlasted Colonial Athletic Association foe William & Mary, 3-2 (25-17, 19-25, 24-26, 25-18, 15-4), Friday night in Sinclair Gym.

After an outstanding first set, the Dukes (19-5, 11-2 CAA) dropped the second and third sets to overpower the Tribe (5-17, 1-12 CAA) in the fourth before dominating them in the final frame.

Redshirt junior
Kelly Vahos led the Dukes with 14 kills, while junior
Sarah Martin posted a team-leading 30 assists. Junior
Sarah Driscoll topped JMU with 26 digs. Junior
M'Kaela White led the match and matched career highs in two categories with 11 blocks (including two solo blocks) and four service aces.

MATCH NOTES
- Recker now totals 1,010 career digs and becomes the fifth player in program history to have both 1,000 career digs and 1,000 career kills, which she reached earlier this season.
- Along with setting a huge milestone, Recker posted her 15th double-double on the season with 11 kills and 14 digs while Martin added her ninth double-double with 30 assists and 11 digs.

Taylor Gail also posted double-digit blocks in the match, adding a career-high 10 blocks to the Dukes' defensive effort.
- In addition to leading the Dukes in kills, Vahos recorded a .375 attack percentage. She also matched her career high of six blocks.

Savannah Marshall attained two new career highs with her 14 digs and her three assists.
- Marshall notched two service aces over William & Mary while Martin, Driscoll and
Jacqui Koebel had one apiece.

Liv Crawley tallied a season-high seven kills as well as a season-high two blocks.
- As a squad, the Dukes totaled 23 blocks to the Tribe's nine. The last time JMU had over 20 blocks in a match was last season College of Charleston on Oct. 1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Dukes utilized multiple small runs in the first set to take a slim lead and sealed the set-one win on a 6-1 run, which included two kills from Vahos, both a kill and a block from Recker, a Gail/Vahos block and two errors from the Tribe.
- William & Mary jumped ahead quickly, holding the lead in the second set until the end.
- JMU trailed by as many as 11 points early on in the third frame before slowly finding its footing. Steadily the Dukes pulled themselves forward, even tying the set at 24-all before the Tribe stole the last two points of the set.
- When knotted at 5-5, six straight points put the Dukes out in front. Though William & Mary picked up points every now and again, JMU finished the fourth set with a comfortable 25-18 lead.
- A 7-0 run secured the triumph for the Dukes as the Tribe made four errors.

On Sunday, Nov. 4, the Dukes will host Elon for Senior Day. Following a 1 p.m. match, JMU will honor six volleyball seniors.
