JMU to Face Off with Boston College in National Championship Game

QUICK HITS
- Third-seeded JMU will play for its first national championship, as it faces fourth-seeded Boston College in the NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship final on Sunday, May 27 in Stony Brook, N.Y.
- Game time is slated for a noon start at LaValle Stadium and will televised nationally on ESPNU. Fans can also watch online on ESPN3 or the WatchESPN app, and the game can be heard on MadiZONE HD SportsNet audio.
- A victory by either team will be the first national championship in each of the program's histories. It will also be the first time since 2004 that a team not named Northwestern, North Carolina or Maryland will lift up the national title trophy.
- JMU is coming off a 15-12 victory over No. 2 North Carolina in the semifinals, while the Eagles took down the defending national champions, top-seeded Maryland, 15-13 in the second semifinal.
- This is JMU's first title-game appearance, while BC makes its second straight appearance in the championship game.
- Sunday marks the fourth meeting all-time between JMU and Boston College, with the Dukes owning a 3-0 advantage. It's the first time the two have met in the postseason and also the first meeting since the 1993 season.
- The Dukes will faces its third ACC opponent during the NCAA Championship, as JMU upended Virginia in the second round and UNC in the semifinals - both by 15-12 margins.
- JMU is also 5-0 against the ACC this year, having beat UNC and Virginia twice each and Virginia Tech once.
- Friday's win was Shelley Klaes-Bawcombe's 200th career win and her 150th at JMU.
- Earlier Friday, she was named Head Coach for the South All-Stars for the 2018 IWLCAÂ Division I Senior All-Star Game, as she'll coach 22 of the best from the South, which includes JMU players Haley Warden, Elena Romesburg and Rebecca Tooker.
- In the semifinal victory, Warden scored a game-high five goals, while Kristen Gaudian and Hanna Haven each had three tallies. Katie Kerrigan notched three assists, setting a CAA single-season record, with 56 assists.
- Haley Warden also surpassed 40 goals on the year, marking the first time in school history that JMU has four 40-goal scorers
