MACON, Ga. - The James Madison women's golf team wrapped up its fall schedule with a strong showing on Tuesday afternoon, climbing to a sixth-place finish to wrap up the Idle Hour Collegiate, hosted by Mercer at the par-72, 6,083-yard Idle Hour Country Club.
On a tough scoring morning, the Dukes matched their second-round score with a final-day 305 (+17) to jump Georgia State and wrap the week in sole possession of sixth among the 16-team leaderboard.
Freshman
Kendall Turner and sophomore
Kate Owens led the way for JMU with rounds of 73 (+1) and 74 (+2), respectively. Turner carded her best round of the week, including a hole-in-one on the par-3 second hole, to climb into a tie for 21st, while Owens continued to drop a stroke per round, vaulting into a tie for 14th across 90 total players.
Senior
Lauren Comegys (t-31) and freshman
Ana Tsiros (t-36) each posted rounds of 79 (+7) to close out the JMU scoring, while sophomore
Carly Lyvers took home a tie for 69th after a final-round 82 (+10).
Playing as an individual, senior
Joanna Keck finished 84th with an 82 of her own on the final day.

"We battled well this week. We know we left some strokes out there and there are some things to work on before we open the spring schedule, but to compete well on a tough course with a good field is a good way to wrap up the fall season."

The Dukes have closed out the fall portion of their 2019-20 schedule and will not be back in tournament action until Feb. 17-18, 2020, when they travel to Tampa Palms G&CC in Tampa, Fla. to take part in the Old Friends Invitational, hosted by USF.
