TAMPA, Fla. - Sophomore
Kate Owens picked up her second top-five finish of the season on Tuesday afternoon, leading the way for James Madison women's golf as the Dukes took home third place at the Old Friends Invitational, hosted at the par-72, 6,286-yard Tampa Palms Golf & Country Club.
On a windy final day in Tampa, Owens carded a final-round 75 (+3), earning herself sole possession of fourth place at the 38-player event and taking home top-five honors again after finishing runner-up at the Chris Bannister Golf Classic this past October.
As a team, the Dukes tied for the second-lowest final round in the seven-team field on Tuesday, shooting 308 (+20) on their final day to maintain their hold on sole possession of third place. The performance marked JMU's third third-place finish in six events this season.

QUOTING COACH BAKER
"This was a good event for us to open the spring season. We got a return to solid competition and got a taste of playing in the elements in the later stages of today's round. We know what we have to work on as we get geared up for the push towards conference championships at the end of the spring."
