2019-20 JMU CHEERLEADING GENERAL INFORMATION Friday, April 5: Registration begins at 3:30 p.m. in the second-floor gymnasium of Godwin Hall. First cut will be made Friday night and those making the cut will return Saturday morning. Saturday, April 6: Tryouts run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the team being announced that day - those that make the team will have a mandatory meeting immediately following the announcement.
WHAT TO BRING:
Those trying out for the 2019-20 JMU Cheerleading team should bring the application, copy of current physical and copy of insurance card to registration.

TRYOUT SCHEDULE Day 1
WEAR: fitted tank and shorts
ASSESSMENT: tumbling, jumps, toss extension
Turn paperwork in and draw a number (will determine tryout groupings)
Learn dance and chant (to be performed following day)
Stunts cannot be performed in the same group as your toss extension group
FLYERS: co-ed and all-girl
(1) toss extension
(1) full down
(2) separate stunt combos
MALE APPLICANTS: co-ed stunt
Must perform (3) stunt skills with (3) different female applicants
WHO CAN TRY OUT: All individuals must possess general athleticism, superior motions, crowd appeal, and a genuine love for cheerleading.  Try-out results will be based solely on skills and abilities, individuals that meet or exceed the requirements will have a greater chance at becoming members on the squad.  All possessing the requirements are encouraged to try out. Must be accepted to JMU before trying out. Current JMU students who have not been on the team before must schedule a physical with the team doctor before they can tryout.
