HARRISONBURG, Va. — James Madison women's basketball fell 81-45 to #4 Maryland Sunday afternoon at the Atlantic Union Bank Center. The Terps improve to 3-0 to start their season while the Dukes fall to 1-1.
Maryland used a big 29-10 first quarter to create a large lead that they would never relinquish. The Terps had four players finish in double figures as Chloe Bibby led all scorers with 19 points.
Junior guard
Kiki Jefferson led JMU in scoring with 16 points and
Annalicia Goodman led the Dukes in rebounding with seven boards.
How It Happened
- The Terps shot 75% (12-16) from the field and 67% (4-6) from long range in the first quarter while JMU shot 41.6% (5-12) from the floor. The Dukes were unable to knock down a three-point shot until
Madison Green made a triple in the third quarter.
-James Madison tried to claw their way back in the second quarter when they went on an 8-3 run but Maryland's big first quarter was too much for the Dukes to work back from.

- Maryland's Angel Reese recorded a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.
- The Terps held the edge in rebounds (47-32), steals (10-3) and assists (15-8).

Third Quarter: Maryland 68, JMU 36
- The Terps scored 10 of their 22 third quarter points from the free throw line as the Dukes committed eight fouls.
- JMU held Maryland to just 25% (5-20) from the floor.
- The Dukes recorded a field goal percentage of 46.2 (6-13) for their best shooting quarter of the game.

Fourth Quarter: Maryland 81, JMU 45
- Both teams struggled from the floor in the final frame as the Dukes shot 11.8% (2-17) and Maryland finished 28.6% (4-14).

Bailey Williams scored her first collegiate points on a beautiful reverse layup. She was fouled on the basket and made the free shot to complete the three-point play.
