Dukes Roll to 20-Goal Victory Against Wofford

HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison produced 13 different goal scorers and activated the running clock for more than 50 minutes en route to a dominant 21-1 non-conference lacrosse victory against Wofford on Friday afternoon at Sentara Park.
The 23rd-ranked Dukes improved to 3-1, while the Terriers fell to 0-4 on the year.
JMU opened the game scoring the first 16 goals of the game, holding Wofford scoreless for 40:52. After allowing WC's lone goal, JMU ended the contest with five in a row in the final 16:29.
Friday's win marked just the seventh 20-goal win in school history, tying for the third-largest margin of victory. It was also tied for the largest win in JMU's Division I era, as it's now won three games by 20 goals.
It was the 18th time the Dukes have conceded one goal or less, marking the first time since March 3, 2017 against Longwood that JMU gave up just one score. It was also the 18th time JMU has reached 21 or more goals in a game.
Isabella Peterson led the way with a game-high four goals, scoring all in the first half. Katelyn Morgan turned in a career day with a game-best six points off two goals and four assists, while Daria Lucchesi scored a goal with a career-high four helpers.
Six Dukes recorded multiple goals in the win, as Elizabeth Murphy had a career-high two goals and one assist, and both Mairead Durkin and Lizzy Fox had a pair of tallies. Kacey Knobloch also had three points off a goal and two assists.
Defensively, Fox led the Dukes with four caused turnovers, three ground balls and a career-high three draw controls. Four other Dukes had a pair of caused turnovers in Lucchesi, Durkin, Peterson and Lilly Boswell. Emma Johnson had a caused turnover with four ground balls, as she moved into a tie for sixth-all-time at JMU with 149 career ground balls.
