Harrisonburg, Va. – James Madison volleyball (5-1, 4-0) secured their second conference series sweep of the season, with a 3-0 win over College of Charleston (3-5, 2-4) on Sunday afternoon in Sinclair Gymnasium.
Miëtte Veldman led the charge for the Dukes with 17 kills hitting at a .400 clip ,along with 10 digs, to record her fourth double-double of the season.

Sophia Davis and
Chloe Wilmoth played a big role on JMU's offense, recording nine kills each respectively. Davis led the Dukes on defense with nine total blocks, three being solos, while Wilmoth added three blocks.

Set 1

JMU opened the set with a 4-0 run that started with a kill from
Elizabeth Helmich, who later recorded a service ace during the run. Charleston quickly bounced back to tie the set up 7-7. Veldman threw down three big kills to help JMU take the lead, 15-13, forcing Charleston to take a timeout.

The Cougars clawed their back capitalizing on JMU attacking errors to tie the set up at 17-17. JMU called a timeout to regroup. Out of the timeouts,
Cameryn Jones sent down a kill to get the momentum started for the Dukes. JMU jumped ahead to a 22-19 lead after Davis recorded another kill.

Charleston fought back to take a 24-23 lead, but JMU answered quickly with a powerful kill on the outside from
Liv Crawley. The teams traded points and were tied at 28-28 when Helmich sent down a kill to give JMU the lead. Davis pushed JMU to the 30-28 with a solo block. Veldman led the Dukes with eight kills in the set, while Davis recorded four blocks.

The Dukes took an early lead in the set, with back-to-back kills from Veldman, making it 9-4 at the Charleston's first timeout. JMU kept the momentum going with a 4-0 run that included a big block from the duo of Davis and Wilmoth to take a 16-9 lead.

The teams traded points but Charleston pushed back late in the set with their own 6-0 run, taking advantage of errors by JMU, to get within two, 22-20. Wilmoth put the Cougars' run to a stop throwing down her fifth kill of the set.

Veldman pushed JMU to set point with monster kill making it 24-22. A play later, Davis recorded her third kill of the set to help the Dukes capture the 25-23 win over the Cougars and a 2-0 lead in the match. Veldman led JMU with six kills in the set.

 The Dukes went an run early in the set, capitalizing on Charleston's attacking errors, forcing Charleston to take a time at 11-3. Veldman threw down a backrow kill from Davis to increase the Dukes' lead to 14-3.

Charleston bounced back, gaining momentum from three consecutive kills to cut JMU's lead to 18-10. JMU took a time to regroup and Wilmoth returned to the court to record a kill that got the fire going for the Dukes. Wilmoth and Davis went to work on the offensive end, Davis recording two kills and Wilmoth throwing down one on the outside. Davis blocked an attacked from the Cougars to get push JMU to the 25-13 set win and the 3-0 match sweep.

JMU finished the set hitting at .360 going 10-for-25. Davis lead on the defensive end with four blocks.
Savannah Marshall and Veldman each recorded a service ace for JMU
