HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison volleyball (7-2, 6-1 CAA) celebrated senior day by capturing the weekend sweep over William & Mary (3-5, 3-5 CAA) with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-20, 25-19) victory for Head Coach
Lauren Steinbrecher's 200th career win Sunday afternoon at Sinclair Gymnasium.
James Madison finished first in the Colonial Athletic Association South Division and wrapped the regular season with three weekend-series sweeps.
Miëtte Veldman led the way for the Dukes with 19 kills, hitting .593.
Caitlyn Meyer played a big role for JMU, recording a career-high eight kills, along with three blocks (two solo).
Liv Crawley finished the day with eight kills and three block assists, while
Sophia Davis had six kills and five blocks. JMU finished the match with a .320 hitting percentage and tacked on 12 total blocks.Â
Set 1
JMU took control of the set, snatching the first point and maintained the lead throughout. Davis played a key part in JMU's early lead with two kills and a block to make it an 8-6 advantage.
Skyla Richardson threw down her kill of the set, as her teammate Meyer followed with back-to-back kills, increasing JMU's lead to 13-7 forcing the Tribe to take a timeout.
The Tribe answered with a kill after the timeout, but Meyer answered with a kill of her own to help the Dukes' keep their lead. Davis contributed two more blocks and a kill pushing JMU to a 20-10 lead. Veldman recorded two more kills to get JMU to set point, as the Dukes captured set point off an attacking error by William & Mary, taking it 25-12.

Meyer finished the set with four kills, while Davis recorded three blocks and three kills. JMU recording a .400 hitting percentage with 14 kills.
Set 2
Veldman opened the set with three power kills to give JMU an early 3-0 lead. The Tribe capitalized on the Dukes' attacking errors to tie the set up at 7-7.
Karis Beasley quickly answered with a service ace to get JMU back in the lead, 9-8.
Veldman recorded two more kills to spark a 4-0 run for the Dukes, forcing William & Mary to take a timeout at 14-10. The Tribe chipped away at JMU's lead getting it to 19-14, but Davis shut that down with a kill down the middle. Richardson recorded her second kill of the match to push JMU to the 24-19 lead. The Dukes' gained match point off a service error by the Tribe winning 25-20 to lead 2-0 in the match.
Veldman finished the set with 10 kills and a perfect hitting percentage. Crawley also finished with three kills in the second.
Set 3
JMU took the first point with a kill from Veldman. The Tribe fought back, but JMU went on a 7-0 run, capitalizing on William & Mary's errors to increase their lead to 10-2.
Caroline Dozier recorded two attacks of her on to push JMU to a 15-7 lead. The Tribe took advantage of JMU's attacking errors to cut the Dukes' lead to 15-10.
At 20-17, Veldman recorded two kills to spark a 4-0 for JMU that brought them to a 25-19 victory. Meyer record the kill that won the set and the match.
Meyer finished the set with three kills and two solo blocks. Dozier recorded two kills, 12 assists and three digs.
