HARRISONBURG, Va - The James Madison men's golf team has signed standout Václav Tichý to a National Letter of Intent to join the Dukes for the 2022-23 season, Head Coach
Carter Cheves announced on Saturday.
Tichý comes to Harrisonburg from the Czech Republic, having established himself as one of the country's top amateur players. Along with earning a spot on the Men's Czech National Team, he already sits inside the top 500 of the World Amateur Golf Rankings.
"Václav is an extremely accomplished player and we are thrilled to have him joining the JMU Golf program," Cheves said. "He has worldwide tournament experience and will be a great addition to our roster."
Tichý has continued his strong play in the last year, winning a Czech Amateur Tour event at Prague City GC this past April with rounds of 72-69-70 before taking runner-up honors at the Raiffeisenbank President Masters in September.
The Dukes will open the spring portion of their 2021-22 campaign in San Juan, Puerto Rico, traveling to TPC Dorado Beach to take part in the Dorado Beach Collegiate on Feb. 27-March 1.
