HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Redshirt sophomore Isabella Peterson tied the program records for goals and points in a game, as No. 12 James Madison lacrosse pulled away for a 17-10 conference road win at Hofstra on Saturday at James M. Shuart Stadium.
The Dukes won their fifth straight game and improved to 8-4 (2-0) on the season. Hofstra dropped to 6-5 (0-1) with its fourth straight defeat.
Â
Peterson set a career high and tied the JMU single-game record eight goals while adding two assists for 10 points. The single-game goals record was previously set by Julie Martinez back on April 11, 2000. She became the third JMU player ever to record 10 points, matching Kelly Berger (Feb. 26, 2006) and Gail Decker (April 9, 2004).
Â
In addition to Peterson, redshirt senior Katie Checkosky dished out five assists, which was one shy of her career-high. Goalkeeper Molly Dougherty made 11 saves with a .524 save percentage. Redshirt junior Rachel Matey set a career-high with 11 draw controls, one shy of a program-high 12 set by Maddie McDaniel back on March 30, 2019.
Â
JMU's 17 goals was its highest of the season, and the Dukes have scored at least 13 times each time out during the current win streak.
