High Point, N.C. – In a dominant 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-20) victory, the Dukes rounded off the non-conference season by beating High Point on Wednesday afternoon at the Millis Center.
 
The Dukes improved to 6-3 while the Panthers fell to 7-4. This was the first time High Point has lost at home in 17 home matches, or 2019.
 
Danielle Nathan led the Dukes with 13 kills, followed by Bre Reid with 10. 
Hannah Roberts and 
Grace Wenrich each recorded 12 assists, with Roberts setting a new career high. 
Madilyn O'Toole was also one short of her career high five aces in the match.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
The Dukes dominated in the first set, going up 10-3 off of a 7-0 runs where 
Sophie Davis recorded two kills. JMU maintained this lead, even when a 5-0 run from High Point brought the score to 23-22.
 
Second Set
JMU never trailed High Point in the second set, maintaining at least a four-point lead once the set got started.
 
Third Set
The Panthers earned an early 9-6 lead after a 4-0 run, but the Dukes were able to even it out and take the set to 20-20.  A 6-0 run from JMU secured the third and final set for the Dukes to wrap up conference play.

The Dukes are back home to start conference play against Appalachian State on Sept. 23 & 24. The game will be livestreamed on ESPN+.
